Evaluation question 3
What have your learnt from your audience feedback?
The identified target audience for my production consists of 16-20 yr olds of both genders, but mostly male.Throughout the pre-production, production, and post-production stages of my music video, I have considered the reception of my audience as I wished to create the correct effect and atmosphere linked to their perspectives.
Following the completion of my production, my audience feedback has been widely positive as my targeted audience appear to relate to the themes and ideas presented in my music video. From their feedback, I was able to interpret how I used the correct urban, man-made setting and casted characters which they may associate themselves with. I have also learnt the significance of pre-production research as by evaluating different music video's of the same genre I was able to understand the key features that commonly appear in videos similar to mine. For example, from the videos I analysed, I realised several shared the themes of unity and friendship displayed through the characters, despite the rough and damaged area challenging them. I succeeded in portraying these themes within my own music video by implying the strong bond shared by the characters. Moreover, I recognised the ways in which each video was filmed, and how similar shots and angles were used in the various settings of each production. For example, the continuance of wide shots, close-up shots and long distance panning camera movement was used in similar ways in each video. The 'breaking of the fourth wall' was also displayed repeatedly as the characters mouthed the lyrics of the song back to the camera, and so the viewer watching. I subsequently involved similar filming techniques within my own music video in order to match the audience targeted by the same genre video, as their audience also apply directly to me.
Despite my audience feedback mainly being positive due to the following of my product research, improvements may also have been made to my production. For example, the adding of more characters to my music video may have emphasised the message of brotherhood and friendship already shown. This could have also impacted the viewer further as a wider variety of shots would have been taken to add to the atmosphere of the music video. Moreover, the viewers effect may have been improved through the use of several different locations rather than the select few used in my production. If improved, this may aid in informing the viewer of the surrounding urban area that the characters live in. This would deepen the audiences understanding of the characters backgrounds and may imply how they got to this stage in their lives. If I were to improve this, I would display each characters background and home situation in order for the viewer to understand each individuals daily struggles and issues. After this, I would film each character coming together with others through different methods of transport to imply their differences. However, the overall message of the production would remain the same as despite each individual characters own issues, they have come together to signify the bond of friendship and how it may support others when they need it the most. I may also have improved the scenes of fire based on my audience feedback by having the characters surround around the fire to symbolise their hope for a better future and determination to help and support each other, in order to obtain one.
In conclusion, I have learnt from my audience feedback that my production holds many positives as well as improvements which could be made. Due to my product research, I was able to target the audience for my music video correctly and specifically. This meant that the enjoyment shown from my production relates to the way my audience associate with the characters and song itself, as well as fitting the section of people who listen to the rap/grime genre. However, the improvements which could be made to my music video suggest how a more organised time management schedule could have been made in order for me to create the best shots possible to therefore have the desired effect on my audience.

Evaluation question 4
How did you use new media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
To answer this question, I created a vlog which is available to watch below:

Ancillary text 1 plan
For my first ancillary text I will be making a DVD cover based on my music video production. It will solely revolve around the main image of fire, as the song is called "Young Fire, Old Flame". By doing this, I am immediately incorporating the song title and so relating back to my music video. The image of fire may represent several things for the reader, from hope to survival to danger. In keeping with the atmosphere I wish to create from my music video, the image of fire will represent the determination portrayed from the characters to continue through the urban lifestyle they live and to make something good out of themselves. I also will fade the image of the main character of my music video into the image of fire on the DVD cover. By doing this, it may suggest how the characters are coming out of the struggle (fire) of their city-based lives and having a more positive outlook on life. This may correlate with one of the scenes in my music video where repeated shots of the characters and fire burning are displayed. Therefore, the features used in my ancillary text of a DVD cover will reflect the visuals and ideas put across in my music video production.
In conclusion, by describing the work on my first ancillary text that I have done so far, I have been able to consolidate my understanding of what is required in order to achieve the right balance of correlation between my ancillary text and music video production.
Below is the work of my first ancillary text so far:

Ancillary text 2 plan
In my second ancillary text, I will create a website homepage for the artist, (Wretch 32), of the song I choose to use in my music video production, (Young Fire, Old Flame). The homepage will feature the artists new and upcoming releases, mainly displaying the link to watch my music video in order for users to have easy access to their favourite artists new material. Moreover, options to view tour dates, merchandise and general news/announcements about the artist will be available to the user. Links to previous music and where to download and listen to it will also be displayed, as well as a choice to view a gallery full of images of the artists and most popular video performances. Also available on the website will be links to all of the artists social media such as: Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube. Therefore making it possible for the user to follow the artist and keep up on their daily life. This will relate to my music video production as it is promoting the artist of the song I chose to use.
In conclusion, by describing the work on my second ancillary text that I have done so far, I have been able to consolidate my understanding of what is required in order to achieve the right balance of correlation between my ancillary text and music video production.

Certification rating
The DVD cover I am creating for my first ancillary text requires me to provide a suitable certification rating for what my music video would be if it was made into a film. At first, I chose the rating of 12A after considering the fact that explicit language and violent themes are used throughout the lyrics attached to the song used for my music video. As a parent/guardians authority is encouraged, I believed it would become apparent that adult themes would occur throughout the film and so it would be up to the parent whether they allowed the child to view these. However, after looking at the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC), I was able to determine how a rating of 15 would be more appropriate for my production.
This is due to the BBFC's identification of what a 12A should entail compared to a 15. For example, when concerning language, in a 12A "There may be moderate language. Strong language may be permitted, depending on the manner in which it is used, who is using the language and its frequency within the work as a whole and any special contextual justification". This may mean a certification of 12A would not be suitable for my production as strong explicit language is continuously used throughout the lyrics of the song. When looking at a 15, the BBFC described the language appropriate by saying "There may be strong language. Very strong language may be permitted, depending on the manner in which it is used, who is using the language, its frequency within the work as a whole and any special justification". Therefore, I can perceive how this certification would be fitting for my DVD cover as the song used in my music video contains strong, explicit language throughout the majority of the lyrics.
In conclusion, by adjusting the certification rating for my DVD cover, I have simultaneously enabled myself to deepen the understanding of my audience research. In this sense, I now know the particular age group I am aiming my music video towards, and so can alter any features that appear on my ancillary texts to apply to this age group.

Media in the online age theorist- Charles Leadbetter
The theorist Charles Leadbetter explores how digital technologies are enabling new forms of collaborative creativity and innovation. He explains how the web is changing the world, and creating a culture in which more people than ever can participate, share and collaborate, ideas and information.
Leadbetter created a book called We-Think, which argues that society is no longer based on mass consumption, but on mass innovative production; a society where people can share and collaborate on ideas and inventions. According to Leadbetter, ideas only take life, become productive and can be fully developed when they are shared.
There are five areas of criteria that are necessary for true collaboration:
- A core of participants who are active and help to shape the community - for us any community needs to be seeded with active participants to create an active environment for others to join in.
-A mix of people who contribute to the community, the right mix of people who may bring different experiences or different views on issues; a mix of experts and amateurs, or a mix of customers and clients.
-People need to connect - this is either by a shared issue or concern that they are addressing or because they share other interests. A good online community is set up to allow people to connect easily, to identify and share commonality.
-Some structured collaboration - communities have a purpose and a set of structures and planned exercises or activities can help to maintain interest and give reasons for people to collaborate.
-The ability to create something - as a group, as sub-groups or independently. In any community a huge variety of items will be created by different people at different times. The key is to bring these things together meaningfully.
Leadbetter also discusses Sector Application:

Leadbetter also discusses Sector Application:
- News- everyone shares information online. For example, a piece of footage from a breaking news story filmed via mobile phone and uploaded to the internet may be used by an official news source to inform everyone else.
- The free use of content could relate to the Fair Use Act. This is particularly applicable to YouTube, since clips are borrowed from each other all of the time.
- TV/Film- websites like 'Contently' are used by advertising agencies to find directors/filmmakers and give them an opportunity to make an advert, when given a budget. This allows a mix of people to participate. This could also relate to Amazon Studios, where people can contribute their own original scripts, and BBC Writers-room, where there are competitions allowing people the chance to have a drama/comedy series/feature commissioned.

Evaluation questions plan
Evaluation Question 1: In what ways does your media products use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
This question requires me to identify similar patterns or features that my final production has in relation to the product research I have carried out. Moreover, if my production has used contrasting aspects I should also select and explain why have portrayed my music video in this way and what impact it has on the viewer. I will present the first evaluation question through the tool of Prezi. By using Prezi, I will describe and explain the comparison from my final production to the previous product research I have done.
Evaluation Question 2: How effective is the combination of your main product and your ancillary texts?
This question requires me to distinguish the connection between my main product and ancillary texts while explaining how it is achieved. My answer to this question should determine to what extent my main product and ancillary texts reflect each other and contribute to the point I am aiming to get across. Moreover, I will present my answer to the second evaluation question by using the method of a vlog (video blog). By using this method, I will clearly be able to evaluate the combination of my main product and my ancillary texts.
Evaluation Question 3: What have you learned from your audience feedback?
This question requires me to establish my understanding of the feedback from the audience of my final production. I will need to identify the points made by my audience concerning whether they enjoyed my production, or reasons for why they may have suggestions for improvement. In addition, I may wish to express how I could further improve my production, based on my audiences feedback. In order to answer the third evaluation question, I will produce a written blog to identify and explain in detail the feedback from my audience, concerning my final production. This will enable me to lay out the positives and improvements to be made when looking at my completed music video.
Evaluation Question 4: How did you use new media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
This question requires me to select the different variety of media technologies that I used throughout the creation of my final production and describe how I used them. I will also need to discuss how each media technology has contributed effectively towards my production and why I chose to use the item. After interpreting how I used the media technology I will address how it furthered the effect I was aiming to get across to the viewer. In order to answer the fourth evaluation question, I will use the method of a vlog (video blog). By using this method, I will clearly be able to describe and explain how and the reason for using new media technologies.
In conclusion, it has been helpful to identify my understanding of the evaluation questions as I have started to think about how I will approach them.

What other types of media do my target audience consume?
My target audience applies to 16-20 year old's of both genders, but mostly male. As my audience consists of teenagers, their consumption of media expands from the music they listen to. My target audience uses various other media sources, such as: TV shows, social media e.g Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat and the radio.
The teenagers who may watch my music video will correlate their interest in the grime/rap genre to the other media they consume. For example, the TV show 'Empire' may be something that my target audience would watch due to the themes of rap culture, violence and police brutality. In the show 'Empire', the hip hop artist and CEO of Empire Entertainment 'Luscious Lyon' (the main character) is diagnosed with A.L.S and predicted to be incapacitated in three years. He has three sons: Hakeem- a gifted musician who values fame over hard work. Jamal- a talented musician who is shy and homosexual. Andre- a business-minded, hardworking man who lacks charisma. Luscious must decide which son to pick to take over the Empire after he passes away while dealing with the reappearance of his ex-wife Cookie who has been in prison.
My target audience would watch this series as the music used throughout is similar to the genre of music they usually listen to as it bases around the hip-hop/rap culture. With artists such as Justin Timberlake, Jay-Z and Nelly Furtado among the musicians producing and creating the shows music, it was decided playlists of each season would be released onto Spotify. This enabled viewers of the show, (including my target audience), to consume media relating to the show through other forms as well as TV. Moreover, the show continued to expand its media consumption by promoting 'Empire' through social media such as Twitter and Instagram. Therefore, viewers were able to find out information about release dates for future series, announcements of new music being produced and when it would be released on Spotify. In this sense, my target audience are able to consume media from all perspectives in order to support their interest in the hip-hop/rap genre.
To conclude, as the TV show 'Empire' is based on a music producing company, in many episodes the making of music video's is shown. This may aid in the creation of my own music video as I can perceive what features and aspects reoccur throughout the music videos shown and depict how I can reflect them in my own. This is due to the TV show demonstrating similar ideas and views that I wish to portray in my own music video concerning rap culture and how the view of hip-hop has changed.
I have attached a link to the trailer for Empire season 1 below:
